Jane became a member of the Bell Team in 2019. With twenty-five years of executive leadership experience, she serves as the career/life coach for Bell clients interested in navigating transitions in their careers and deepening their professional and personal effectiveness and satisfaction. Jane enjoys developing trusting relationships with her clients and creating the space for them to engage in honest exploration and deep and meaningful change.
Jane was born and raised in New York and moved to Berkeley, California 30 years ago to attend law school at the University of California, Boalt Hall School of Law. As a child of two social workers, she grew up in a family committed to social justice and community service. She has brought this commitment to her professional and personal life. After graduating from law school, she traveled to Quito, Ecuador where she met the love of her life at a Spanish Language school. They were married 10 weeks after meeting and now, 30 years later, enjoy a rich family life with two amazing adult daughters. They continue to explore the world together through travel and new experiences.
Jane is a thoughtful, positive leader, professional coach, and management consultant with over 25 years of experience in leadership roles within the City of Berkeley government and in non-profit organizations. In 2015, she received her coaching credential through the world-renowned Coaches Training Institute (CTI), and now coaches motivated individuals to develop into successful professionals and leaders and to navigate transitions in their careers. Her specialties include leadership development, performance improvement, interpersonal communication and relationships, professional growth and development, and career/life transitions. Jane is also a certified Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument (Whole Brain) practitioner and uses the Whole Brain model to assist individuals and teams to fully leverage their own thinking preferences, stretch into other styles when necessary, and adapt to and take advantage of the preference of others to improve performance and results.
Jane coaches from the perspective that clients must actively collaborate in their own professional and personal development. As a coach, she works with her clients to find their own answers, to discover their authentic leadership style, tap into their greatest strengths, and broaden their perspective. She coaches her clients to uncover and maximize the effectiveness of their existing talents but also to push themselves in areas that come less naturally or are overlooked, in order to fully contribute to the success of their organization and to grow as a professional. She explores her clients’ natural leadership style and works with them to develop their ability to modulate that style as needed in order to maximize effectiveness.
Away from work, Jane loves vegetarian cooking and baking. She and her husband are avid gardeners and Jane’s passion is to create beautiful food from the ingredients they harvest from their yard. She also serves as Treasurer of the Board of Directors of The Bread Project in Berkeley, which supports individuals with significant barriers to employment to become gainfully employed as commercial bakers.
