Careers Evolve

Our Process

The Bell Factor

Most people are more inclined to seek the professional help of a doctor, lawyer, financial advisor, or counselor than they are to seek the help of a Career Coach — no matter how difficult the challenges of career or life become. The general attitude seems to be “I can do it myself!”

At Bell Investment Advisors, we hold the view that your career is your most important financial asset; as such, it requires your active management. Successful professionals get help when they need it. A Career Coach, not unlike an athletic coach, helps facilitate change; sees you in a way that you may not be able to see yourself; provides tools, perspective, and support; and helps you move forward. Active management of your career means bringing your “best self” to work every day understanding that your day-to-day performance is an audition for your next promotion. Successful professionals leverage their reputation into professional growth and opportunity.

The questions of investing and financial planning are inherent in career development as well: What’s working? What’s not? What now? These questions are difficult to answer on one’s own and extremely challenging to translate into an actionable plan while managing fear, anxiety, and the rest of life’s challenges.

A Career Coach can help you gain clarity, overcome fear, and develop an actionable professional development plan with the tools you need to operationalize that plan. With the help of a coach, you discover your leadership potential, learn to make strategic decisions, navigate personal and professional challenges, improve communication, effectively manage time, and produce results. If you are in transition, a coach can help you write your resume, prepare for interviews, or transform your experience into retirement.

While each of our offers at Bell Investment Advisors can stand on their own, we believe that when people take advantage of all of them, they maximize the possibility of Making a Good Life Happen®.

If you are interested in learning more about Career Coaching, contact Jane Micallef by email (jmicallef@bellinvest.com). When you email her, she will follow up with you to arrange an initial complimentary coaching session by telephone. During that session, you can tell her more about your situation, she can tell you more about how she might be able to help, and together you can determine if you want to proceed with coaching sessions. If you decide to work together, the first session will take place in person in our office unless that is not practical.

Each person and situation is entirely unique, of course, but most often clients embark on a series of 60-minute sessions with Jane, normally every two weeks for a 6-12 month period. Stepping into this series of focused sessions is like stepping into an intriguing, stimulating, engaging graduate course that has been designed for you. You bring with you everything you have been, are, and wish to be, and with the help of an experienced coach, you begin to make sense of it all. It’s not therapy, but it is extremely therapeutic.

The results are often surprising and yet very down to earth: the “what,” the “why,” and the “how.” Whether you leave the for-profit world for a non-profit job, or the city for the country, or start a business, or sell one, you will know why you are doing what you are doing and have the resume or life plan to get you where you want to go. As importantly, you will gain concrete skills and have the tools necessary to bring your “A” game to work every day.

Jane Micallef became a member of the Bell Team in 2019. With twenty-five years of executive leadership experience, she serves as the career coach for Bell clients interested in navigating transitions in their careers and deepening their professional and personal effectiveness and satisfaction. Jane enjoys developing trusting relationships with her clients and creating the space for them to engage in honest exploration and deep and meaningful change.
