OAKLAND, CA. May 9, 2012 – Again this year, in the tradition of community partnership between business and the arts, Bell Investment Advisors is the official sponsor of the Oakland East Bay Symphony’s season finale. The concert, Do That Voodoo, a rare blend of jazz and symphonic music, will be conducted by Maestro Michael Morgan on Friday, May 18 in downtown Oakland at the historic Paramount Theatre.

Featured artists include composer and violinist, Daniel Bernard Roumain, blending his Haitian roots with classical and techno textures and a vibrant musical imagination in Voodoo Violin Concerto. The innovative composer, performer, and bandleader has played everywhere from Carnegie Hall to American Idol, where he recently performed with Lady Gaga.

Also featured is San Francisco Bay Area native and musical prodigy, Taylor Eigsti, presenting the World Premiere of Courage, written by Eigsti and Eric Harland for jazz piano, drums, and orchestra in honor of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami victims. Recognized by critics internationally, Eigsti has several best-selling CDs and two Grammy nominations under his belt at the age of 26.

International jazz vocalist, Paula West, will perform a set backed by the orchestra including songs of Bessie Smith, Cole Porter, Rodgers & Hart . . . and Bob Dylan.
