Giving Back to Our Community

As we continue to celebrate our 20th year in business, we also celebrate 20 years of meaningful engagement and financial contribution to the communities in which we live and work. We believe that part of making a good life happen for ourselves includes making a good life happen for others. We are privileged to be in a position to contribute both time and money to organizations we believe inspire, enliven, improve and uplift the world in which we find ourselves.  We are deeply enriched by this engagement and giving. We look forward to a future in which we continue to build positive momentum in our communities through personal engagement, volunteerism, financial contribution, and leadership.

2013 Bell Youth-in-the-Arts Grant - Application Now Available

We believe that the arts enrich the community and contribute to its vitality, as well as being essential to a well-rounded education for youth.

As ongoing cuts in public education typically result in the elimination of the arts programs from schools, we want to be part of the solution to the problem by supporting arts for youth in our community and encouraging other businesses to follow suit.
– Jim Bell CFP®, President and Founder

We are pleased to offer the Bell Youth-in-the-Arts Grant for a second year. A $5,000 grant will be awarded to an Oakland organization or program that helps further arts education for young people, especially in underserved communities. The program might involve visual or performing arts, including music, drama, dance, painting, sculpture, poetry, collage, film, photography, conceptual art, or printmaking, as examples. Organizations are only eligible to win this grant once, and past applicants who did not receive the award are encouraged to apply.

The 2012 Bell Youth-in-the-Arts Grant - Finalists

34 Deserving Organizations

Cal Performances’ Berkeley/Oakland AileyCamp was chosen to receive the 2012 Bell Youth-in-the-Arts Grant from a group of 34 local organization applicants, all of which are outstanding and worthy. The decision was more difficult than we had anticipated. We found AileyCamp to fully reflect the mission of the Bell Youth-in-the Arts Grant program as well as Bell Investment Advisors’ belief that the arts enrich the community, contribute to its vitality, and are essential to a well-rounded education for youth. In response to on-going cuts in public education arts programs, the firm has established this annual grant to help fill in at least some of the gaps left by these budget cuts, as well as to encourage other local businesses to step up to the plate.

Please check out the entire list of the 34 applicant organizations below, all deserving! We encourage you to offer them your financial and volunteer support. In addition to providing this list, we are featuring the top ten finalists, one per month, with more detailed information about their programs, including current activities and wish lists.

We so often hear about the problems in our communities, but here are some viable solutions. We hope you, too, will become part of the solution. Let us know if you do!
